What is Alpha Feteprotein (Tumor Marker) (AFP) test?

Alpha-FetoProtein (AFP) tumor marker test measures the level of AFP in the Blood. If there is an increased level of AFP detected in the blood, it could indicate the presence of cancer. This test is usually used in the detection of liver cancer, cancer of the ovary, or germ cell tumor of the testicles. Elevated levels may sometimes be seen in cancers like stomach, colon, lung, breast, and lymphoma. High levels of AFP are also seen in those with diseases such as cirrhosis and hepatitis.

I normally have an issue with my veins as they are very thin but the technician was experienced and the sample came out in one shot at the first attempt, which really reassured me.
