What is CA 125 (Ovarian Cancer Marker) test?
CA 125 is a Protein that is present in ovarian cancer cells. Ovarian cancer is hard to detect early because symptoms are not specific and distinct. Due to this, as less as 20% of those who have ovarian cancer are detected by lab tests before the cancer begins to spread. The CA 125 test can aid the early detection of ovarian cancer as it screens for the presence of the Antigen/tumor marker in the Blood.
Why get the CA 125 (Ovarian Cancer Marker) test?
The CA 125 is the most important tumor marker for monitoring the treatment and progress of those diagnosed with serious ovarian cancer. The CA 125 level could also be elevated in non-malignant or benign gynecological diseases, such as ovarian cysts, ovarian metaplasia, endometriosis, uterus myomatous, and cervicitis.
