What is Gamma G.T (GGT) test?
Gamma-Glutamyl Transpeptidase (GGT) test measures the amount of the enzyme GGT in the blood. GGT is a transport molecule that helps the liver break down drugs and toxins that are consumed.
Why get the Gamma G.T (GGT) test?
GGT test is usually administered to those who are addicted to consuming alcohol. Alcohol affects the liver and enzymes like GGT that play a vital role in metabolism. An abnormal level of GGT is also an early predictive marker for atherosclerosis, heart failure, arterial stiffness and plaque, gestational diabetes, and various liver diseases, including viral hepatitis and other infectious diseases.
