What is IgE - Immunoglobulin E Total (IgE - Total) test?
Immunoglobulin IgE test is one of the five classes of immunoglobulins that is present primarily in the skin and mucous membranes. It is believed to play a role in body reactions to environmental antigens, especially allergic reactions.
Why get the IgE - Immunoglobulin E Total (IgE - Total) test?
Increased Serum IgE level is usually seen in allergic diseases, some primary immunodeficiencies, parasitic and viral infections, certain inflammatory diseases, and rarely in some malignancies.
