What is Total Bilirubin (T. Bilirubin) test?
The total bilirubin test measures the amount of total bilirubin in the Blood. It is used to determine the cause of jaundice and helps in diagnosing conditions such as liver diseases or blockages in the bile ducts.
What happens during this test?
An ALP test may be ordered as part of routine laboratory testing, often with a group of other tests called a liver panel. It is also usually ordered when a person has symptoms of a liver or bone disorder. ALP levels are increased in obstructive liver diseases like cholestasis and in several bone disorders like Paget's disease, rickets, osteomalacia, and hyperparathyroidism. It can also be indicative of malignant disorders.
