    This test looks for hidden (occult) blood in the stool that is not visible to the naked eye. Small amounts of blood can be an early warning sign of problems in the digestive tract. The stool occult blood test checks a stool sample for traces of blood. It is often used as a simple screening test for bleeding in the bowel, including early signs of bowel cancer.
