CertifiedLabsHepatitis B is caused by HBV( Hepatitis B virus) that can affect the liver. The surface antibody (Anti-HBs) is a protective antibody your body makes after recovering from hepatitis B infection or after vaccination. The Anti-HBs test measures the level of this protective antibody in your blood. It shows whether you are immune to hepatitis B, either from past infection or from vaccination.
Before the Test
Tell your doctor about your vaccination history and any past hepatitis infection.
This test checks antibody levels post infection or vaccination, cannot be detected in active infection; other tests are used to detect current infection.
Fasting is not required.
During the Test
A trained Orange Health Labs professional will collect your sample during the visit.
Follow the instructions given to you at the time of collection.
The sample is labelled and sent to the laboratory for testing.
Let the collection team know if you feel unwell during the procedure.
It is recommended:
To check for Antibody levels post Hepatitis B vaccination.
To confirm immunity after recovering from a past infection.
To assess antibody levels in healthcare workers and others at higher risk.
To decide whether a booster vaccine is needed.
Often done a few weeks to months after completing a hepatitis B vaccine course, as your doctor advises. At any time when immunity needs to be checked.
