Prolonged exposure to screens and UV rays, environmental factors like pollution and food adulteration, lifestyle habits like smoking and consuming alcohol is leading to increasing cases of cataract in the younger population. Early onset of diabetes is also known to be one of the risk factors. A survey suggests that many people delay their cataract surgeries owing to fear of pain or losing their eyesight; even though this simple procedure has a 98% success rate. These fears are unfounded and undergoing a cataract surgery can reverse cataract induced blindness/visual impairment.
