The Egg Debate: Cholesterol or Nutrition?

Eggs are often at the center of nutrition arguments. Some say the yolk is packed with essential nutrients, while others warn it’s high in cholesterol and harmful for the heart. The truth, as Dr. Edwin points out, is that eating eggs alone in excess could be just as problematic as excluding them entirely. It’s the balance and moderation of your diet that determines health outcomes, not one single food.

Rice, Chapati, and the Carbohydrate Illusion

Many people assume chapati is automatically healthier than rice and switch their diets accordingly. But nutritionally, both provide carbohydrates that break down into glucose in the body. Simply substituting rice with chapati doesn’t reduce the sugar load. Instead, Dr. Edwin suggests focusing on portion control and combining carbs with proteins and fats to create a more balanced meal.

Why Quantity Matters More Than Labels

Whether it’s eggs, rice, or chapati, the type of food isn’t the real issue, it’s how much and how often you consume it. Large portions of any single food can harm your health, while moderate portions as part of a varied diet are far less likely to do so. Adjusting portion sizes while balancing with proteins and healthy fats offers a more sustainable approach to eating well.
