    What Is a Triglyceride Test?

    The Triglyceride test is used to measure the level of triglycerides, a type of fat (lipid) found in the blood. Triglycerides serve as a source of energy, but elevated levels can increase the risk of cardiovascular, kidney, or brain disorders.

    People with poor dietary habits, low physical activity, obesity, or metabolic disorders are more prone to having high triglyceride levels. Diagnosing abnormal triglyceride levels early can help reduce the risk of stroke, heart disease, or other serious conditions.

    Triglyceride Test Preparation

    Fasting for 9–12 hours is typically required before a Triglyceride test to ensure accurate results. No other special preparation is necessary.

    Who Should Get This Test?

    • Adults with cardiovascular risk factors

    • Children with a family history of early heart disease

    • Diabetic patients (to monitor blood lipid impact)

    During the Test:

    • A blood sample is drawn from a vein, typically in the arm

    • The procedure involves minimal discomfort and takes less than 5 minutes

    After the Test:

    • A small bandage will be applied to the puncture site

    • Results are usually shared within 6 hours via email or WhatsApp

    Why Take a Triglyceride Test?

    A Triglyceride test is commonly included in a lipid profile to evaluate cardiovascular risk. It helps detect conditions like atherosclerosis, heart disease, stroke, metabolic syndrome, and pancreatitis.

    Doctors may recommend this test if you have the following risk factors:

    • Smoking

    • Obesity or sedentary lifestyle

    • High blood pressure or diabetes

    • Unhealthy diet (high in sugars/carbs)

    • Family history of heart disease

    • Existing heart or kidney conditions

    Regular lipid screening is advised:

    • For healthy adults every 1–2 years

    • At least once between ages 9–11 and 17–21 in children

    • More frequently if risk factors or pre-existing conditions are present

    Triglyceride Test Results & Interpretation

    Triglyceride test results are measured in milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL). Elevated levels may increase the risk of heart attack, stroke, or inflammation of the pancreas.

    Reference Ranges:

    • Normal: Below 150 mg/dL

    • Borderline High: 150 – 199 mg/dL

    • High: 200 – 499 mg/dL

    • Very High: 500 mg/dL and above

    High triglycerides are linked to:

    • Diabetes and poor glycemic control

    • Atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular issues

    • Metabolic syndrome

    • Pancreatitis in very high levels

    • Hormonal imbalances or liver/kidney dysfunction

    • This is my 2nd time. They are charging very reasonable price. Sample collection happened in time without any inconveniences and in very hygienic way. Got the final report before promised time. Reports were getting updated as soon as the tests were getting completed and I was getting updates over email and as well as whatsapp and finally the final report came. The reports look accurate. I had a very good experience again.

Earlier I booked for night but then someone called and asked about when did I eat and since I had to be in fast for past 8 hrs before sample collection, we rescheduled it to next morning.
