Before the Test

Follow fasting instructions if given, usually 9 to 12 hours, with only water.

Avoid alcohol for a day or two before the test, as it can raise triglycerides.

During the Test

Follow the instructions given to you at the time of collection.

The sample is labelled and sent to the laboratory for testing.
