What is Total Bilirubin (T. Bilirubin) test?
The total bilirubin test measures the amount of total bilirubin in the Blood. It is used to determine the cause of jaundice and helps in diagnosing conditions such as liver diseases or blockages in the bile ducts.
Why get the Total Bilirubin (T. Bilirubin) test ?
High bilirubin levels accompanied with jaundice are strongly indicative of liver diseases or related issues such as obstruction by gallstones. If you show jaundice-like symptoms, your doctor would ask for this test along with direct and indirect bilirubin tests to diagnose the cause of jaundice accurately.
When to take this test?
0.3 - 1.2 mg/dL
Frequency to repeat test
Every 6 months
