What is Cholesterol (Total) test?
Total cholesterol measures the amount of cholesterol in the body. Important lipid components such as LDL cholesterol and HDL cholesterol would be assessed by this test.
What happens during this test?
The American Diabetes Association recommends that it should be done in people with type 2 diabetes every year and people with type 1 diabetes once in five years. If you have high blood pressure, you may get a microalbumin creatinine ratio at regular intervals, as recommended by your doctor.
When to take this test?
Less than 200 mg/dL - Desirable 200 - 239 mg/dL - Borderline high More than 240 mg/dL - High mg/dl

Every 6 months
Precautions to be taken before for the test
Do not eat or drink anything except water at least 10 to 12 hours before the test.
