What is Albumin test?
Albumin is a type of Protein synthesized predominantly in the liver. It is responsible for the retention of fluid within the Blood vessels and the maintenance of adequate Blood pressure. The test helps assess liver function by measuring the total amount of albumin in the Blood.
Why get the Albumin test?
Measuring albumin can detect signs of liver damage/diseases. caused by impaired synthesis due to either liver diseases (primary) or due to diminished protein intake (secondary). It can also be caused by increased catabolism (due to tissue damage and inflammation in the body), malabsorption of amino acids, and increased renal excretion (eg. nephrotic syndrome). Measuring albumin helps in detecting these conditions early and are used to monitor progress and response to treatment.
When to take this test?
3.2 - 4.8 g/dL g/dL
Frequency to repeat test
Every 6 months
Precautions to be taken before for the test
No particular precautions are required, unless it is recommended by your doctor.
What our customers say about us
I normally have an issue with my veins as they are very thin but the technician was experienced and the sample came out in one shot at the first attempt, which really reassured me.
The pickup was done extremely nicely. Got a message when the person started , no calls for directions and most of all extremely polite representative.
Got my one year old tested. Very professional and safe. Using sealed sample kits with needles, tubes and gloves pre-packed.
