Why get the Dehydroepiandro Steroine Sulphate (DHEAS) test?
DHEA sulfate is produced primarily by the adrenal glands. This test is helpful to clinically assess the difference between excessive adrenal production of androgens (male hormones) from abnormally high ovarian production in women. Plasma DHEA sulfate is also often measured during the evaluation of women with hirsutism.
