A CBC with differential is an enhanced version of the standard CBC that provides a breakdown of the five different types of white blood cells: neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, and basophils. Each type of white blood cell has a specific role in the immune system, and the differential count helps doctors determine whether an infection, inflammation, or immune disorder is present. For example, elevated neutrophils might indicate a bacterial infection, while high eosinophils could suggest an allergic reaction or parasitic infection.
